Eva Cassidy: By the time the pure, powerful voice of Eva Cassidy hit the airwaves, she had already passed away at the far-too-young age of 33. Early on she drew the attention of the "Godfather of Go-Go," Chuck Brown, who invited her to collaborate with his band, the Soul Searchers. Soon after, Cassidy was diagnosed with melanoma. After treatment, she recorded several collections of pop, blues, and jazz tunes, but the cancer was to return after only two years. Cassidy made one more public appearance in 1996, performing "What a Wonderful World," a rendition that still takes one's breath away today.
